House League Playoffs
Submitted By Jeff Campbell on Tuesday, February 8, 2011
Feb. 5th was the first game of the Playoffs.

In the playoffs, every team will play each team twice. After the round robin play is over, the top two teams will be playing for the A Championship and the next two teams will be playing for the B Championship. I hope everyone has their game faces on because any team has a chance to win!

At the last Minor Hockey Executive meeting, there were some HL rules changed to keep HL games safe and fun for every player. The change made was, if the referee sees during play that someone was intentionally trying to injure a player, that the penalized player would serve the penalty in the penalty box. The penalized player must sit the remainder of the shift in which the penalty occurs as well as their next shift. A penalty shot is also awarded to the non-offending team at the end of the game. A second occurence of this type of penalty by the same player in the same game will result in an automatic ejection from the game. The Executive felt that the team penalized with a player sitting in the penalty box should not play short handed, so a player can move up to play the remainder of the penalized player's shift. (eg. B player is in the penalty box, only a B,C or D player can play the penalized players shift, not a A player.).

I like the House League program and we like to keep it safe and fun for all. Feel free to contact me if you have any concerns.

Thanks Jeff
