Concussion Management Program Announced for 2012-13 Season
Due to a generous donation from
McKillop Mutual Insurance Company, and the support of the Huron East medical community, Seaforth Minor Hockey is pleased to offer its membership a concussion management program for the upcoming season.
Seaforth Minor hockey has been working with the
Clinical Medical Research Group to develop a concussion management program to meet the needs of our organization. This program includes:
• Baseline neurocognitive testing using the online ImPACT test for all players PeeWee age and above.
• Concussion awareness for players, parents, coaches, teams and leagues.
• Proper post-concussion management of the injury with local qualified medical experts (after a concussion has occurred).
• Research on the frequency and rate statistics in order to assist the SMHA in developing changes necessary for our game.
Plan to attend our official launch of the program on
September 12th @ 7:30 pm at the Seaforth & District Community Centre.
All SMHA players and their families, coaches and bench staff are encouraged to attend. A number of guests will be present to share important information about the program, concussion management and the testing process.
