Concussion Baseline Testing (ImPACT Testing) Dates Announced…
Submitted By Craig Metzger on Sunday, September 16, 2018
For second year Atom players through Midget, SMHA is pleased to announce that we are again using the ImPACT concussion test as part of our concussion management program and the baseline testing dates have been set.

SMHA continues to be among the leaders in our area in addressing the important issue of concussions as this is the 6th year of our active concussion management program. We’re pleased to be able to offer a complimentary baseline ImPACT test to SMHA players as just one of our efforts to keep our athletes safe.

SMHA’s concussion management program includes:

* Complimentary access to the ImPACT test

* Access to follow up testing and return to play assessment by a group of local health care professionals experienced with the ImPACT testing process.

*Clear the return to play protocol

All players age 2nd Year Atom and older are required to have a baseline test.

The first step involves having your young athlete complete the online baseline test.

Parents are encouraged to attend with their child on the test night to discuss our program and concussion management.

As we did last season, the testing will be offered in a group format at Seaforth Public School in the computer lab beside the library on:

Thursday, September 27th starting at
6:30 pm: Atoms (2008 birth year) and Pee Wees
7:30 pm: Bantams and Midgets who can't make Tuesday, Oct. 2nd.

Tuesday, October 2nd starting at
6:30 pm: Bantams and Midgets
7:30 pm: Atoms (2008 birth year) and Pee Wees who couldn't make Thursday, Oct. 2nd.

* In preparation for the test please ensure that your child brings their current weight, height and the dates of any previous concussions with them.

* The test takes approximately 25 minutes and is fun to complete.

* The test does require a certain level of reading and comprehension.
