Short Bench Makes Lots of Ice Time
Submitted By lcampbell on Wednesday, January 4, 2012
The Seaforth Midget Girls came out of what seemed like a marathon game against St. Mary's with a 2-2 tie.

With only 8 skaters, the girls put up an incredible fight, both against the visiting squad and the constant sound of the referee's whistle. Nine times the Seaforth girls went short-handed, and kept the St. Mary's team from scoring all but once. They even killed off a 5 on 3 power play for St. Mary's for more than a minute.

Melissa was, as always, stellar in net, nabbing pucks out of the air with her usual finesse. Brook, Kourtney and Marissa worked hard on defence, keeping the shots to a minimum. Dawn, Courtney, Nadine, Hannah and Brooke kept the forward line strong, swapping positions constantly as needed. There were no "lines" in this game, whoever was on the ice, played where they were needed. (And whoever got to the door first, got to come off!)

Nadine pocketed both of the goals for our team, Hannah assisting on one, and the birthday girl Kourtney setting up the other. But when the bench is as short as it was, it truly was an all-out effort by everyone there.
Huge congratulations to the whole team for a well played game. You played hard and it paid off.
Re-match against St. Mary's on the 11th in St. Mary's!
